Dr. Jian W Dong

Diagnostic Radiologist & Data Scientist

About Me

I am a double-boarded diagnostic radiologist and data scientist with hands-on experience in the clinical validation of medical technology.

Clinically, I am particularly interested in multimodal imaging of Alzheimer Disease and molecular imaging (PET/CT) of cancer.

Technically, I am broadly interested in bridging the gap between engineers and clinicians. I am exploring ways to apply CV and RL techniques to fulfill unmet clinical needs—particularly in oncology, neuroscience, and surgical robotics.

In my past, I was a first-generation immigrant kid who achieved my childhood dream of studying engineering at Columbia, where I graduated magna cum laude in MechE with a focus in robotics. I then earned my medical degree at NYU, and started my clinical training with a preliminary medicine year at Mount Sinai, followed radiology residency at BWH/Harvard together with a nuclear medicine fellowship. I also hold a MS in data science from UT Austin. Before medicine, I dabbled in astrophysics (NASA), experimental fluid mechanics (Berkeley), and computational neuroscience (NIH).
